Glen Street Staircase emergency repair
The city deemed the Glen Street Staircase unsafe and awarded an emergency $5,880 repair to Forest Iron Works without competitive bidding, as state law allows.
$660,000 in Nassau County grants for fire gear and ballfields
Three emergency resolutions bring county money for firefighter breathing apparatus ($200K), a Pascucci Field stadium rebuild ($350K), and bleachers/sprinklers/fencing at City Stadium ($110K). Most of the work was already done — this pays the city back.
Police chief contract and department hires
The city hired a new police officer, six EMS personnel and a DPW mechanic — with officials noting EMS recruiting has finally turned around after a desperate shortage.
